Where to Sell Vintage Items Online in the UK (2026 Guide)

Team Artifactly·19 October 2026·9 min read

You can sell a vintage item to a vintage buyer for speed, or list it yourself on a marketplace to get the full retail price. Which marketplace is best depends on what the item is: clothing, furniture and decor, and collectables each have their own natural home.

Key points

  • Clothing: Vinted, Depop and eBay. Vinted's buyers pay its platform fee; Depop charges UK sellers no selling fee, only payment processing.
  • Furniture and decor: Vinterior, Selency, Furnish Well and Pamono (dealers), plus Facebook Marketplace for collection-only sales.
  • Collectables and smalls: eBay, with its wide reach and free selling for UK private sellers.
  • Curated sites check sellers or listings first: Vinterior vets dealers, Selency moderates every listing, Pamono and LAPADA accept members by application.
  • Selling on several sites at once means taking a piece down everywhere the moment it sells.

Should I sell to a vintage buyer or list it myself?

Vintage buyers, whether by post, at roadshow events or through dealer networks, are the quickest route. Many offer a postage pack or a free valuation and pay you directly. The price is a trade price, because the buyer needs to sell it on at a profit.

Listing it yourself takes more work, with photographs, a description and answering questions, but you sell at the retail price. If you have a few good pieces and some time, listing them yourself means you set the price.

Where should I sell vintage clothing?

Vinted is built for second-hand clothing. Its price list shows no compulsory fee for sellers: the buyer pays the Vinted fee at checkout, and sellers pay only if they choose to boost an item's visibility.

Depop charges UK sellers no selling fee. It does take a payment processing fee of 2.9% + £0.30, worked out on the item price plus postage, and 12% on listings you choose to boost.

eBay is free for UK private sellers and reaches buyers searching for specific brands and eras, which suits rarer vintage pieces.

Where should I sell vintage furniture and decor?

Furniture is where the specialist marketplaces earn their keep:

  • Vinterior focuses on vintage and antique furniture. Private sellers in the UK can sell items between £50 and £5,000; dealers apply and are vetted.
  • Selency is open to private and professional sellers and moderates every listing.
  • Furnish Well is free to list and takes 5% only on sales made through its checkout; a cash sale on collection carries no commission.
  • Pamono is for dealers, galleries and designers, by application.
  • Facebook Marketplace works for local, collection-only sales of bulky pieces.

Delivery shapes the choice. Royal Mail's largest standard parcel is 61 x 46 x 46 cm and 20 kg, so most furniture needs collection or a courier. Our video guide Furniture delivery: weight and courier text shows how to prepare what a courier needs.

Where should I sell vintage collectables and smalls?

For ceramics, glass, toys, records, books and other smalls, eBay is usually the first stop: it is free for UK private sellers, and small pieces post easily, so buyers anywhere in the country can buy them. Trade dealers can add specialist sites such as Antiques Atlas.

What is a curated vintage marketplace, and which ones are there in the UK?

A curated marketplace checks who sells or what is listed before buyers see it, which keeps quality high. In the UK:

  • Vinterior vets its professional sellers through an application.
  • Selency has a team that moderates each listing.
  • Pamono accepts dealers, galleries and designers by application.
  • LAPADA is a members' association of professional art and antiques dealers; members need three years' trading, VAT registration and two referees.
  • Antiques Atlas is for established trade dealers it can verify.

Open marketplaces such as eBay, Vinted and Depop let anyone list, which means more competition but no application.

How much does it cost to sell vintage online?

Here is what you would keep on two sales, a £200 lamp and a £600 sideboard, using each marketplace's fees as published on 19 October 2026. eBay business fees are worked in the Antiques category and exclude VAT.

Marketplace£200 lamp£600 sideboard
eBay, private seller£200.00 (no fees)£600.00 (no fees)
eBay, business, Antiques£177.10 (fees £21.80 + 40p + 70p)£532.10 (fees £65.40 + 40p + £2.10)
Vinterior, private seller (24%)£152.00£456.00
Furnish Well, sold through its checkout (5%)£190.00£570.00
Furnish Well, cash on collection£200.00£600.00

On Vinted the seller pays no compulsory fee; the buyer pays Vinted's fee on top of your price.

How do I sell vintage on several sites without selling it twice?

Listing on more than one site finds a buyer faster, but a one-off piece can only be sold once. Keep a single list of what is live where, and take the piece down everywhere the moment it sells. Vinterior's own help asks sellers to mark an item sold on Vinterior as soon as possible when it sells elsewhere.

Artifactly Studio is built for this and is easy to use day to day: you add a piece once, it publishes directly to eBay, Shopify and WooCommerce and takes it down there when it sells, and it prepares listings for Vinterior, Selency, Pamono, Vinted and 13 more for you to paste in. One email after each sale tells you which listings still need marking sold by hand. Read more in our guide to cross-listing software in the UK.

Do I pay tax on selling vintage?

If you are clearing your own things, GOV.UK says you probably do not pay Income Tax on them. If you buy items to resell at a profit, you are probably trading: the first £1,000 of trading income a year is covered by the trading allowance, and above that you register for Self Assessment. Since 1 January 2024 platforms report sellers to HMRC unless they make fewer than 30 sales and receive less than about £1,700 in a year. Frequently asked questions

Where is the best place to sell vintage items online in the UK?

It depends on the item. Vinted and Depop suit clothing, Vinterior, Selency and Furnish Well suit furniture and decor, and eBay suits collectables and smalls and is free for UK private sellers. Many sellers use several and take each piece down everywhere once it sells.

What is the best curated marketplace for vintage sellers in the UK?

For furniture and decor, Vinterior vets its dealers and Selency moderates every listing; Pamono accepts dealers, galleries and designers by application. Which is best depends on your stock and whether you sell as a private seller or a dealer.

Is it free to sell on Vinted?

Vinted's UK price list shows no compulsory fee for sellers. The buyer pays the Vinted fee at checkout, usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80, and sellers pay only if they choose optional visibility services.

Where can I sell vintage furniture without posting it?

Facebook Marketplace is arranged locally in the UK, and Furnish Well charges no commission on cash sales collected by the buyer. Many specialist marketplaces also let the buyer arrange collection or a courier.

Do I need to be a dealer to sell on Vinterior or Pamono?

Not for Vinterior: UK private sellers can sell items between £50 and £5,000, at 24% including VAT. Pamono is for dealers, galleries and designers by application, and does not let private individuals sell directly.
