How to change a price on a live eBay or Etsy listing

5:40 · Watch on YouTube

Change a piece that is already for sale: find it in Inventory Control, press Edit, change the price, title, description, sizes or photos, and press Save Product.

Then make sure it reached your marketplaces: read the message after saving, press SYNC, check the live links, and see what the daily price check shows. Plus changing many prices at once with Set Price.

What you need: Copy-and-paste marketplaces such as Vinterior, Pamono and Chairish have no connection, so change the price on those sites yourself.

About this video: The screens are the real Artifactly app, recorded on a demo shop with made-up stock. The voice is computer-generated.

0:00Find the piece

This video shows how to change a piece that is already for sale: a new price, or a new title, description or photos. You change it in Artifactly, Artifactly updates the marketplaces where it is live, and then you check that it went. Start in Inventory Control. At the top, How to change a price opens the app's own steps for this job. This video follows them, one at a time. First, find the piece. Type its title or its SKU in the search box. We type the SKU of one of the demo pieces. On its card, Market Channels has an icon for every marketplace. A green icon means the piece is live there, and under the icons, a small link for each live marketplace opens the listing itself. The demo shop has nothing connected, so none of its icons is green.

0:58Change it in Update Product

Press Edit. It opens the Update Product window: the same window as Upload Item, filled in with everything about this piece. Marketplace Selection, at the top, already has the marketplaces where the piece is live picked for you, and only those, so saving a change never puts it on sale somewhere new. Our demo piece is not live anywhere, so nothing is picked here. Now the change. Unit Price is the asking price, in pounds. Click in it and type the new price. We type 395. You can change anything else in the same way. The title and the Product Description are near the top. Further down are the Measurements and the Product Photos. Change whatever you need, anywhere in the window.

1:46Save Product and the message after it

When you have finished, press Save Product at the bottom. It saves the change in Artifactly. On a piece that is live on eBay, Etsy, Shopify or WooCommerce, saving then tries to update those listings straight away. In this video we press Cancel, so nothing is changed. After saving, a message comes back. It says Product saved, then a line with a tick for each marketplace that took the change. A line with a cross names a marketplace that refused it, and says why. This note shows what those lines look like. The app's own warning matters here: saving is not proof. Saving tries to update the listings, but only a SYNC that names a marketplace shows the change reached it. If a marketplace is not named, the change did not reach it, and buyers there still see the old price.

2:40Press SYNC

So, back on the card, press the icon of each marketplace where the piece is live. A live icon then turns amber, which means ready to sync. The listing stays on sale: the amber only marks it to be sent again. Then press SYNC on the card. It sends the piece to every amber marketplace. On a piece that is not active yet, the same button says Send. We do not press it here, because the demo shop has nothing connected.

3:07What eBay, Etsy and WooCommerce get

On eBay, SYNC revises the listing that is already there: the title, cut at a whole word if it is over 80 characters, the description, the price and the photos. The eBay category and postage stay as they are. On Etsy, SYNC updates the listing that is already there, with the title, the description, the tags, the materials, the price and the stock. If you changed the photos in Edit, they go to Etsy too. A big photo change can take more than one press of SYNC, and the message says how many are left. On WooCommerce, SYNC finds the product already in your shop and updates it. Then read the line that comes back. SYNC COMPLETE lists each marketplace it published or updated. SYNC FAILED gives each refusal, with its reason, and the reason is also kept on the card, in red, under the icons. Copy and paste marketplaces, such as Vinterior, Pamono and Chairish, have no connection for this. Change the price on those sites yourself.

4:07Check it went

To check it went: the icons are green again, and the small links under them open each listing, so you can see the new price for yourself. Activity, at the top of the screen, keeps a line for every step until you reload the page. Every day, Artifactly also checks the prices showing on eBay, Etsy and Shopify. If one differs from Artifactly, it appears in Needs your attention, on the Command Room. The demo shop has nothing wrong, so this note shows how it reads. It names the marketplace and both prices. If Artifactly is right, press SYNC on the piece. If the marketplace is right, change the price in Artifactly.

4:45Many prices at once

To change many prices at once, go back to Inventory Control and press Select. Tick the pieces, or press Select All. A dark bar appears above the pieces. In the bar, type the new price in the price box and press Set Price. It acts at once, with no second question. Every piece you ticked gets that one price, saved in Artifactly and sent to its live listings, and a message says how many were updated. We press Cancel instead.

5:16Sales and Relaunch are different

Two jobs look similar but are different. A price cut for a set time is a sale, on the Sales page, in video fifteen. Relaunch Listings ends a tired Etsy or eBay listing and publishes it again as new. That is video sixteen. That is how to change a piece that is already for sale. The next video is about bringing your stock in.
