CN22 customs form, invoice and address label

4:59 · Watch on YouTube

Each piece in Artifactly can make its own commercial invoice, CN22 customs form, address label and packing list, filled in from the piece and your Business Profile.

The CN22 never guesses the tariff number: it asks for the HS code and country of origin, and points you to the GOV.UK Trade Tariff. Every document is kept in Invoice History.

What you need: Works on every plan and on the free trial.

About this video: The screens are the real Artifactly app, recorded on a demo shop with made-up stock. The voice is computer-generated.

Questions this video answers

How do I fill in a CN22 customs form?

It is laid out like the paper form, and starts filled in with your name and address, the piece, a quantity of one, its weight if you saved one, and its price. Artifactly never guesses the HS tariff number, and fills in the country of origin only when one is saved on the piece. Once the form is complete, Generate CN22 opens it, ready to print.

Where do I find the HS tariff code?

While Sale of Goods is ticked and either box is empty, an amber note asks for both, and names the GOV.UK Trade Tariff website, where you can look up the code. Artifactly never guesses the HS tariff number, and fills in the country of origin only when one is saved on the piece.

How do I make an invoice for a piece?

Generate Invoice opens a printable invoice in a new window, ready to print or save as a PDF, and keeps a record of it in Invoice History. Fill in the invoice date, when it is due, and the currency: pounds, euros or dollars. Then the buyer's name, phone and address.

0:00Staff Notes on a piece

This video shows the paperwork for a piece: staff notes, invoices, customs forms, address labels and packing lists. It all starts from a piece in Inventory Control. Each piece has a row of small buttons. The note button is Staff Notes. The receipt button beside it is Invoices and Documents. Press Staff Notes. These notes are for you and your team only. Buyers never see them. Along the top are five buttons: Invoice, CN22, Packing, Label and History. We will open each one in a moment. Notes for this piece are listed in the middle, with pinned notes at the top. Each one shows its type, who wrote it and the date. This piece has none yet. To add a note, choose its type: General, Restoration Update, Pricing Rationale, Buyer Interest or Collection Instructions. Then write the note. Save Note keeps it with the piece, for everyone on your team. For this video we do not save it.

1:14Commercial invoice

Press Invoice. The Commercial Invoice opens, for the buyer to pay and for your own records. Fill in the invoice date, when it is due, and the currency: pounds, euros or dollars. Then the buyer's name, phone and address. Same as billing is ticked, so the goods go to the same address. Untick it to add a different delivery address. Notes is optional. Business Settings shows your company name, VAT number, address and bank details. The address is on one line, with commas between the parts, and the invoice prints it the same way. Save Settings keeps them in this browser only. Each time the app opens, they are filled in from your Business Profile on the Command Room, so make changes there to keep them everywhere. If you have a VAT number, the invoice shows the VAT. Generate Invoice opens a printable invoice in a new window, ready to print or save as a PDF, and keeps a record of it in Invoice History. We press Cancel.

2:27CN22 customs form

CN22 is the customs form for parcels going abroad. It is laid out like the paper form, and starts filled in with your name and address, the piece, a quantity of one, its weight if you saved one, and its price. Tick what the parcel holds. Sale of Goods is ticked for you. These two you fill in yourself. Artifactly never guesses the HS tariff number, and fills in the country of origin only when one is saved on the piece. This piece has none saved, so both boxes are empty. While Sale of Goods is ticked and either box is empty, an amber note asks for both, and names the GOV.UK Trade Tariff website, where you can look up the code. Until both are filled in, Generate CN22 stays greyed out. Then the VAT number if you have one, and the date. The signature line is for signing the printed form. Once the form is complete, Generate CN22 opens it, ready to print. We press Cancel.

3:36Address label and packing list

Label makes an address label: the delivery address, the buyer's phone number, and a delivery code or reference. Generate Address Label opens it to print. We press Cancel. Packing opens the Packing Manifest, the list of what is in a shipment, for courier collections and your own dispatch records: the date, a reference, who it is going to, and any special instructions. We press Cancel.

4:05Invoice History

History opens Invoice History for this piece. Every invoice, customs form, label and packing list you generate is kept here. This piece has none yet. When there are records, each one shows its reference, type, status, amount and date. Mark Paid and Mark Sent change its status, and the cross voids it. View All shows the records for every piece, New starts another invoice, and Refresh reloads the list. Close it with the cross, and close Staff Notes the same way. The receipt button on the piece opens the same Invoice History straight away. That is the paperwork. The next video is the AI Curation Lab: writing descriptions, and your listing templates.
