How to list an antique start to finish, with AI
13:13 · Watch on YouTube
List one piece from start to finish: the AI writes the listing from a photo, your sizes and your notes, then Transfer To Upload Form fills the Upload Item window for you.
Then every part of that window, top to bottom: marketplaces, title, price, sizes, weight and postage, where it is kept, antique details, eBay and Etsy categories, photos, and saving.
About this video: The screens are the real Artifactly app, recorded on a demo shop with made-up stock. The voice is computer-generated.

0:00Write the listing with Description AI
This video lists one piece from start to finish. First, the AI writes the listing for you. Then it goes into the Upload Item window, and we go through every part of that window, from the top to the bottom, in order. Our piece is a G-Plan Fresco teak sideboard. Start in the AI Curation Lab, on the Description AI tab. Leave Regenerate Existing on New product, because this piece is not in Artifactly yet. Give it one clear photo. Paste the photo's web address, or drop the photo on the box below, or click the box to choose it from your computer. We paste the address of our sideboard photo. Custom SKU can stay empty: one is made for you. Then the sizes, in centimetres. Our sideboard is 213 wide, 81 high and 46 deep. Seat height is for chairs, stools and sofas. Now the notes. Write down what you know: the maker, the date, the materials, every mark or label exactly as it is, and the condition. The AI writes only from your notes and what it finds, so good notes make a good listing. Press Write Description. It searches the web first, for the maker, the period and any marks, then writes the listing. The button counts the seconds while it works. It usually takes one to two minutes. While it works: each description counts towards your monthly AI allowance, and the price stays yours. The AI may show a price guide, but it never sets your price. Here is the listing it wrote. At the top is the title, then the sources it read, a price guide for you, and the description itself.
2:34Transfer to the Upload Item form
Read it through. Then, at the bottom, press Transfer To Upload Form. This does not save anything yet. It opens the Upload Item window with the listing filled in for you to check and finish. Here is the Upload Item window. The transfer filled in the title, the description, the sizes, the era, the materials, the tags and the photo. It did not set the price, the weight, where the piece is kept, or the marketplaces. Those are yours. Now we go down the window, part by part.
3:11Where to sell
First, Marketplace Selection: where the piece will be sold. Primary Store is your own website shop, Shopify or WooCommerce. We press Shopify. Under it are the other marketplaces. Press each one you want: we press eBay and Etsy. Select All picks every one, and Clear All takes them all off. Picking a marketplace here does not put the piece on sale. When you save, the ones you picked are marked ready to send. Nothing goes out until you press SYNC on the piece, in Inventory Control.
3:48Title and description
Next, Title and description. The title came from the AI. Check it reads well, and change anything you like. Dictate lets you say it out loud instead of typing. eBay allows eighty characters in a title. When a title is longer than that, a line appears under it showing exactly what eBay will get, cut at a whole word. Etsy and your website still get the full title. Below is the Product Description, the full write up from the AI. Read it, and correct anything that is not right about your piece. The number beside it counts the characters. Regenerate AI writes a fresh description from the first photo and the details, and replaces the text. AI Auto-Fill fills any empty boxes from the description. You do not need either here, because the transfer has already filled the form. Formatting Tips shows how to lay out a description that reads well everywhere. Preview Marketplace Description shows the text as buyers will see it. Press it again to close it.
4:57SKU and price
On the right is Pricing and SKU. Staff SKU is your own stock number. The transfer made one for you, starting with the SKU Prefix from your Business Profile. Change it if you use your own numbers. Unit Price is your asking price, in pounds. The price is always yours to set. We type 895. Then Verify Price searches eBay with the title, to find pieces like this one. The Market Intelligence box shows the middle price and the usual range, and says plainly whether they are sold prices or asking prices. Asking prices are what sellers hope for. See sold prices on eBay opens eBay's own search for sold pieces, in a new tab. Shopify Product Type or Category sorts the piece in your shop; the AI picked one. Shopify Vendor is your business name, unless this piece should show another seller.
5:53Google Shopping and search fields
Next, Google Merchant and Top Listing Optimization. MPN is a maker's part number; the transfer put your SKU in it. GTIN is a barcode. Most antiques have no barcode, so leave it empty. Shipping Label is kept with the piece, for Quick Copy. The two Meta boxes and the Image Alt Text are what search engines show for this piece in your Shopify shop. The AI filled them; check they read well. Sub-Category narrows the category, for example sideboards. Material Search Tag is a material word buyers search for, such as teak. Product Tags are search words, with a comma between each one; the AI added some.
6:41Sizes, weight and postage
Next, Measurements, in centimetres. The transfer filled in the width, height and depth from the sizes you gave. Check them. AI Extract from Description reads the sizes again from the description if you need it. No measurements needed is a switch for pieces where sizes do not matter, such as a print. It hides the size boxes, but keeps the weight, for postage. Our sideboard needs its sizes, so we leave it off. Weight is in kilograms. Weigh the piece if you can. If not, the small round button in the weight box, AI Estimate Weight, works it out from the sizes, the material and the kind of piece. We press it. The estimate goes into the weight box, with a short reason under it, and Weight Class is set to match. It is only an estimate, and it can be far out. So weigh the piece and type the real weight over it: ours is 55. Then check Weight Class: we choose Very Heavy, for forty kilograms and over. Postage Size picks which of your eBay postage policies, Etsy shipping profiles and WooCommerce shipping classes this piece uses. You set those up once, in Postage on the Command Room. Under it is a suggestion from the sizes and weight. A sideboard this big needs a courier. Press Use it to take the suggestion.
8:08Where it is kept
Next, Where It Is. Place is where the piece is kept. We choose the Showroom, and type the spot, Bay 3, in the box beside it. Add a new place, at the bottom of the list, makes a new place there and then.
8:24Antique details and materials
Next, Antique and Collectible Specifics, used by eBay, Etsy and Vinterior. The word in square brackets on each label says which marketplace asks for that box. The AI filled in what it found, such as the maker or the era; check each one. Period or Era has a list, with a box under it to type your own. Choose from the list when you can: we choose 1960s. Place of Origin works the same way. Original or Repro tells eBay whether it is an original. Style is the design style. Room Context is the room it suits, for Etsy. Shipping Size is for Vinted. Time Period Manufactured is required by eBay. It is filled in from the era when the date is clear. Check it, or choose from the list: ours is 1950 to 1969. Next, Structural Materiality: the primary and secondary material, the wood tone, and the handle material, for eBay. Then the primary and secondary colour, the Condition Level, the Restoration Grade, and the V.A.T Rate for this piece. Detailed Condition Report is the wear, the marks and any restoration, in your own words. Be honest and exact. Vinterior and Pamono rely on it. We type ours.
9:50Parts and Google category
Next, Component Breakdown. Set Quantity is how many pieces make one set, such as two for a pair. In Stock is how many you have; leave it empty for a one off, like this sideboard. Then Diameter, for round pieces, and the number of drawers, cupboards, doors and shelves. Ours has four drawers and two doors. And whether it needs assembly. Google Product Taxonomy Mapping is the Google Shopping category path, like the example in the box: furniture, then cabinets, then sideboards. It goes to Google Shopping with the piece.
10:30eBay and Etsy details
Next, Fashion and Marketplace Specifics. Vinted Specifics and Poshmark Specifics hold those marketplaces' own categories and details. We are not selling this sideboard on Vinted or Poshmark, so we leave them empty. Video nine shows them in full. eBay Specifics. eBay Category is a live search of eBay's own categories. Type what the piece is, and choose from the list: we type sideboard. The category then shows Ready. eBay Shop Category is optional, for your own eBay shop categories. eBay Condition is new, used, or for parts or not working. Etsy Specifics works the same way: search Etsy's categories and choose one. We type sideboard again. Who made it? and When was it made? are Etsy's two questions for vintage. Left empty, Artifactly fills both when the piece goes to Etsy. Etsy Shipping picks the Etsy shipping profile; leave it on Auto-detect. Next, Fashion and Textile Logistics: clothing sizes, fit and fabric. A sideboard leaves all of these empty.
11:48Photos and video
Next, Product Photos. The photo you gave the AI is already in the first slot. The first photo is the main one buyers see. Drop all product photos here takes up to fourteen at once, or press Browse Files to choose them from your computer. Each photo has two small buttons at its corners: the red cross takes it out, and the other opens the Photo Editor. We open it. In the editor, the sliders set brightness, contrast and saturation, and Smart Adjust lifts all three a little at once. Crop keeps just the part you choose. Remove Background cuts the piece out onto white. Save Edited Photo puts it back in its slot; we press Discard. Last, Product Video: drop in one short video of the piece, up to fifty megabytes.
12:42Save, then send
That is every part of the window. When you have checked it all, press Save Product at the bottom. The piece is saved in Inventory Control, marked ready to send to the marketplaces you picked. In this video we press Cancel, so nothing is saved. After saving, go to Inventory Control and press SYNC on the piece, to send it to those marketplaces. The Inventory Control video shows how.
